At a glance
Pick the session first, then the route. The route estimate helps with planning; it is not a pace target.
Find it in VOXXYour accepted session → Choose a route
Wondering where to go can be the last bit of friction before a run. VOXX can suggest return routes near your current location or somewhere you search for, using the session you have accepted. You choose the route after seeing its map, distance and estimated time.
Step by step
Set your starting place
Use current location with the required location permission, or search for a town, street or landmark and select a result. Review the visible planning pace. If VOXX lacks enough suitable history, it labels the pace as an assumption that you can change.
Compare and preview
Look at the suggested routes and any available terrain comparison. Select Use this route today when the route makes sense for you. Start & finish keeps manual endpoints available; More ways to plan includes saved routes and GPX import.
Prepare the route voice
Choose natural voice, device voice, or map and haptics. Prepare natural route voice while connected and wait for it to be ready before starting. Preparation shares direction text, including street names, with OpenAI, not GPS coordinates. If preparation fails, retry or explicitly choose an alternative. During a phone session, View route & directions opens the map and route controls. The workout’s Spoken cues setting is separate.
Start with awareness
Run the accepted workout and listen for directions as you approach turns. The next junction stays visible between spoken directions, with approach cues when location and route progress are clear enough. Workout and navigation speech are coordinated. Keep checking the real path and crossings.
If you leave the route
Open View route & directions on iPhone, or the route view on Watch. Choose Guide me back when offered, review the proposed walking connection and confirm Use return path. Your original route and workout stay in place. Continue without route ends guidance while recording continues.
GPS is useful, not exact
Buildings, trees and weak location signals can affect guidance. VOXX checks location quality and route progress, but it cannot promise a perfect position or certify a path as open, well lit or safe. If guidance is uncertain, stop somewhere appropriate and check the map.
When there is no connection
Finding a new walking connection needs Apple’s route service and sends it your current position and rejoin point. If that service is unavailable, VOXX may show a short recent path kept locally for retracing. On Watch, Offline line view shows the saved route without street detail. Neither a suggested path nor a retrace line establishes that a path is safe. Outdoor junction, rejoin and limited-network behaviour are still being evaluated in the beta.
A suggested route does not change the workout
The time estimate includes moving warm-up and cool-down and allows for stationary preparation. Do not speed up to fit it. Terrain estimates are approximate, and new route searches require a connection. If you change today’s session, choose a route that fits the revised version.
VOXX is in private iPhone beta. Features and screen labels may differ between testers.
